Official CollegetoCareers $250 You're In! Scholarship

You're in! So now what? CollegetoCareers.com is awarding its annual scholarships. If you are a high school senior or community college transfer student who has recently been accepted to a four-year college or university, now’s your chance at a scholarship to pay for those pricey textbooks you’ll need in the fall. Just follow the instructions on our scholarship page and submit your post below!

    Some important points:

    1) How many scholarships we award will be based on the number of applicants.

    2) Scholarship recipients will be asked to verify their acceptance and identity.

    3) Deadline is June 17, 2011 @ 11:59pm.

    Major: Business Admin
Appied to: Berkeley, LA, UCSB, UCSD, UCD
    Accepted to: ALL! (:
    GPA: 4.0
    TAG/TAP: Tags and Taps everywhere!

Breadth (for Berkeley): All done except two
ECs: business development internship at two different startups, paid accounting tutor, relay for life coordinator, student government
Essays: Pretty darn good. I'd have to give them an 8 or 9/10. I worked on them two months in advance (they are online before the application is up) and revised them about a million times. I wrote about my business experience in Prompt #1 and showed the adcoms WHY I want to study business. For Prompt #2, I wrote about how I overcame failure and related to how this is an important idea in the business world as well.

I will be attending Berkeley's Haas School of Business in the fall! WOOT WOOT.

    My Entry

    Accepted to: UCR, UCSC, UCSB
Applied to: UCR, UCSC, UCSB, Cal, UCD, UCSD
    Decided: UCSC
    Major: Bioengineering
    GPA: 3.3
    Activities: Marching Band, Chess Club

Personal Statement Essays: I wrote about how I came to be interested in science from a young age. I also wrote about being a returning student, and the challenges I faced in restarting my academic career.
Self Grade: 6 or 7 out of 10 on writing. It has been a couple years since I've taken an English class.

Special Circumstances: I failed out of college at age 20, Return at age 23 and have spent the last 3 years making up my old F's and relearning how to be a student. I encourage people of all ages to pursue an education if they desire, there's no such thing as "too old to learn."

Cheers, and thank you for your consideration!
